Bartons Arms Fire

28/07/06
"Yes that's right folks at approx. 02.00 on the morning of 28/07/06 the Bartons Arms had a fire on the premises.

Everyone is ok (no medical help required) but the cellar of the pub is damaged and the first floor has some smoke damage. The management are rectifying all problems with the help of our friendly excellent electricians. Unfortunately the pub is not open today (Friday 28/07/06). We may possibly be trading later on Saturday. Please be aware that not all things will be back to normal and we apologise for any inconvenience this may cause."

30/07/06
YIPPEE...... The Bartons is back to normal Trading.

We thank all of you that supported us through the last 2 weeks. All the customers, suppliers, technicians and contractors. Back to the glory days...

Do your bit to save The Brewery Tap

The developers have unveiled their latest plans for the redevelopment of North Westgate. Unfortunately they have missed off the Brewery Tap. Your help would be greatly appreciated in our attempts to rectify this problem, just drop in for your usual pint, Oakham of course. Fill in one of the comments forms on the bar and hand it to one of the staff. We'll be happy to pass on your comments and hopefully change a few minds.

Free Wi- Fi connection available from 27/07/06

Newley installed free Wi -Fi connection at the Bartons Arms in conjunction with Aston Pride.

No-Smoking

New larger non-smoking areas

The whole upper floor now a non-smoking area. There is also a ban from smoking at the bar. The distance away from the bar is determined by the black and white cheque tiles following the bar from one end to the other.

Nearly 6 months on and the feedback is positive... (I wonder if it will be the same if the government implement the total ban throughout public houses?)
